Sun damage and dark spots in Fairfax VA
Your girlfriend suggested IPL for the dark spots along your cheekbones. You’d try it if nobody at work could tell, and that is the first thing to settle about IPL for sun damage and dark spots in Fairfax, VA. Here’s how the visit goes with Waseem Garbia, PA-C, at Dontage.
Usually, yes, if the spots are from the sun and your skin isn’t tanned. At the beginning of your consultation, you and Waseem will go over your skin tone and whether you’ve been in the sun in the past few weeks. If your skin is on the darker side or you just came back from the beach, he’ll typically book you for the Moxi laser instead, since it treats all skin types.
Then you’ll put on goggles, he’ll spread a cool gel across your cheeks, and you’ll feel a series of bright flashes like a rubber band snap with some warmth, all in about 20 to 30 minutes. Then you’ll drive yourself home, and feel free to ask about our Wednesday-to-Friday evenings, when the office sees patients until 7:30 p.m.
You’ll be pink for a few hours that afternoon. By Monday the spots will have gone darker, and they’ll flake off over the next week or two. Nothing crusts or peels in sheets. Your face will look like you spent the weekend outside, and the most you’re likely to hear at work is a question about whether you went hiking.
Waseem will typically book your first session for a Friday afternoon at our office on Williams Drive, so the darkening happens over the weekend. Most spots lighten a great deal over three to six sessions spaced about a month apart, and the deepest ones may need a pass with the Halo Tribrid laser. Keep in mind that a daily sunscreen is what keeps the spots from coming back, and you’ll leave with one from our SkinBetter Science or iS Clinical shelf.
You’ll leave your consultation with Waseem Garbia, PA-C, knowing whether IPL or Moxi fits your skin and how your face will look on Monday. Call Dontage at 703-962-4772 or text 571-581-1020 to book your IPL consultation.
